In recent years, beautiful Swan Lake was overtaken by the invasive plant species Water Chestnut, destabilizing the lake's ecosystem and putting the local flora and fauna at risk, as well as impeding fishing, boating and other lake activities.

Catskill Clean Water Fund is dedicated to completely eradicating the invasive plant species using herbicides in order to restore our beautiful lake to its former beauty, and protect the many fish and other plants that depend on the Swan Lake ecosystem.

Eradicating water chestnut takes years of treatment and labor, but Swan Lake's beauty is quickly being restored with the support of residents who love this gorgeous lake and are determined to protect it and the flora and fauna that call it home.
What is water chestnut? Why is it so harmful to a lake's ecosystem? What is involved in its removal? Watch this video to find out.
